  3. Making the measurement:

  5. If the cornea is toric, the two crosses will not 
  6. appear to be on the same axis.  In this case the 
  7. body of the instrument must be rotated until 
  8. they appear on the same axis.  The power is 
  9. then measured as before with the central screw 
  10. in the handle.  The axis is read in the left 
  11. window (1) in the instrument.  The body of the 
  12. instrument must then be rotated 90 degrees to 
  13. measure the second principal meridian.
